Carmad's Model House
One absolute fact I've learned about this wonderful hobby that I enjoy so much is this- scale auto crafting is nothing short of absolute artwork, and that my friend is my quest..... the fusion of scale cars & art. I favor building the older style quarter mile ground pounders with a "built-on-a-shoestring-budget" look- you know, a car put together out in the back garage kinda thing by a group of guys who I refer to as "Earl and the gang".
I began my journey into scale car building in the Fall of '03, and from that very first victim I began trying to figure out how to make my cars more "realistic" looking, versus a bunch of plastic parts all painted up and stuck together. Every project I embark on is a learning experience, and I'm continually trying to learn new techniques and build ideas along the way. Have I ever finished that one kickazz "masterpiece" you ask? Nope, I most certainly have not.... and chances are pretty slim that I ever will, but they're getting more interesting one build to the next and that's what matters to me!
The gradual transition into more detailed scratch building came from the support and coaxing of many successful car builders I've gotten to know from all over the planet. Car builder groups, posting forums and clubs have been my best source for ideas, motivation, and improving my skills.... so I highly advise giving it a whirl! I've made life-long friends from many of these clubs, and you just might find a few friends as well~
Peek into some of the links here on my page, and if you would like to share your favorite build photos or links please do! Include any comments or suggestions- I would love to hear from you and have your input! Thanks for stopping by and I DO hope to see you again real soon my friend!
